Poached Pear Salad Pt. 1

We all go out to eat and I’m sure most of you often times think it’s too difficult or time consuming to make what you eat at a restaurant at home. Well, it’s not. I ate a dish similar to this at a restaurant and decided to give it a try. I played with textures and flavors and finally voila! I got this awesome salad.

This salad has it all! It has those pears I poached in yesterday's video, bacon, spinach, spicy almonds, poached eggs, & red onion. It's got to be one of my ALL TIME favorite dishes. It's spicy, sweet, salty...overall perfection. I've made this as an appetizer and as a main dish.

The video is about 5 minutes long…longer than most of my videos, but I show you step by step how to poach an egg. Here’s a secret: Although I knew how to poach an egg, I never actually did it before. So you’re witnessing my first attempt. Hope you all enjoy it.

Notes/Tips

  • Add chicken, shrimp, scallops or whatever you feel like adding.
  • Change up the types of nuts you use: I’ve used candied pecans, walnuts, the list goes on.
  • Use pancetta if you don’t like bacon (or go healthier and use turkey bacon)
  • The options are endless on this one…play around with it.
